Think about life:

  • Name the major life transitions that people go through (Example: 1st day of Kindergarten) and what challenges each transition poses.

  • What other life changes do people go through (Example: Divorce) and what challenges do they poses?

  • When people need help getting through a difficult time in life, where do they turn to for help?

  • What has been the most significant challenge you’ve encountered in life and what got you through?

Digging Deeper into Scripture:

  • Read Ephesians 1:19

    • What happens if we do not understand the incredible greatness of God’s power?

    • What can be obstacles to understanding the incredible greatness of God’s power?

  • Read Ephesians 1:20

    • God raised Jesus from the lowest point (death) to the highest point (place of honor at God’s right hand). What is the lowest point you’ve been at and how has God raised you up?

  • Read Ephesians 1:21

    • What people or groups do you consider powerful?

    • How is the risen Christ far above them?

    • What difference does it make between following someone who is less powerful than many, to following Jesus who is far above all?

  • Read Ephesians 1:22-23

    • In a time when much of our cultural media and post-secondary institutions seem to be against Christianity, what does it means to you that God has put all things under Christ’s authority?

  • Discussion questions:

    • What helps you make it through the “confusion/doubt” phase in between the death and a resurrection?

    • What practical steps can you take to turn to God first when you face stress or overwhelming situations?

    • Share a story of how God brought you through a death/resurrection cycle?
