Rethinking Impossible! #4 – We’re invited into a new life!

Think about life:

  • Name some of the biggest life changes you’ve made and how they turned out?

  • What is the longest recovery you’ve undergone from a surgery or sickness? What helped you make it through?

  • What kind of problems or challenges in people’s lives make you wonder if there is any hope for them?

Digging Deeper into Scripture:

  • Read Acts 3:1-3

    • What do you find about the beggar? What’s his life been like? What is his daily routine? What does he expect to happen? What do people entering the Temple daily to pray know about the beggar?

    • What happens to us when part of our life goes “lame”? What do we stop expecting? How do other people treat us?

  • Read Acts 3:4-6

    • Why was the lame man expecting what he was expecting and why did Peter and John give him what they did?

    • Do you think the lame man was surprised, confused, or cynical?

    • Share a time when you did not get what you expected from Jesus, but in fact got something far better.

    • What kind of power did Peter and John place in the name of Jesus Christ?

  • Read Acts 3:7-11

    • When were the lame man’s feet and ankles healed and strengthened?

    • How did the cripple react to his healing? How did those who knew him as a cripple react?

    • Thinking back to how the lame man was healed as Peter helped him up, how has God brought healing to the “lame” areas of your life? Were there key people or events?

    • Share a story of God’s healing as a way of praising God.

  • Read 2 Cor. 5:17

    • How does our new life in Christ happen both instantly and over time?
